Dylan Lawless is a bioinformatician with extensive experience in genomics and immunology, currently working at Kinderspital Zürich and the University of Zurich since July 2023. Previously, Dylan served as a postdoctoral researcher at EPFL, leading over 10 major projects in large-scale human genomics and supervising numerous students. Dylan completed a PhD in Genetics at the University of Leeds, where significant genetic discoveries in immunology were achieved, integrating bioinformatics with wet-lab experiments. Additional roles include analytical scientist at ACM Global Laboratories and MSc student at Trinity College Dublin, focusing on various aspects of immunology and clinical research. Dylan holds a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Immunology from University College Cork.

Academic training and employment

  • 2023–2026 Translational medicine at the University of Zurich and the Department of Intensive Care and Neonatology, Universitäts-Kinderspital Zürich, with Prof. Luregn Schlapbach, across clinical genomics, multi-omics, and paediatric critical care.
  • 2018–2023 Postdoctoral research with Prof. Jacques Fellay at Global Health Institute, EPFL, working on the human genomics of infection and immunity.
  • 2015–2019 PhD in Medicine at the School of Medicine and St. James’s University Hospital, University of Leeds, under Prof. Sinisa Savic, focused on rare immune disease discovery, genomic interpretation, and functional validation.
  • 2014–2015 Postgrad in innate immunity, under Prof. Andrea Ablasser at EPFL.
  • 2013–2014 MSc in Immunology at Trinity College Dublin, with first class honours.
  • 2009–2013 BSc Biochemistry and Microbiology at University College Cork.
